Art Inner narrative & guidelines

"Materials, memory, and culture are key topics that Wang Zhekui constantly explores in his work. Combining perspectives from new materialism and the phenomenology of memory, he tries to break away from the traditional one-way relationship between materials and the artist. By giving materials a sense of agency, he explores chance and collaboration in creation. At the same time, through self-dialogue with memory, the process is both a reflection on personal growth and a deep dive into cultural roots."

—Excerpt from the preface of 'Wang Zhekui Solo Exhibition: Traces of Erosion' by Wang Yaoli
